Has time to regionalize arrived?
Over the years, it’s been talked about, mulled over, considered a bit more but, ultimately, police regionalization in Lycoming County remains largely just a concept. Officials agree merging departments saves costs through consolidation of services and personnel.
“We are so busy fighting day-to-day problems of crime. It’s very hard for people to sit down and get together and think strategically,” said state Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Williamsport.
But there’s probably a bit more to it than that, as Mirabito and others will be quick to explain.
