About Rick

Rick Mirabito and his family
Rick was born in Sea Cliff, New York, a village of 5,000 people. His father passed away two days after Rick was born, leaving his mother to raise five small children age 2 days, 2 ½, 4, 6, and 8 years of age as a single parent. Her education as a schoolteacher allowed her to provide for her family and instill in them the values that Rick has embraced all his life — hard work, honesty, and integrity.
Rick worked his way through Cornell University. After graduating, he worked in the field of labor relations as a union organizer with hospital workers. Rick then attended Boston College Law School where he was Editor-in-Chief of the International & Comparative Law Review. At graduation from law school, he was honored with the prestigious St. Thomas More Award, presented to the one student who best exemplifies the character of the man who refused to put the King above the law.
Rick practiced law in Boston for several years. In 1997, he spent a year in Palau where he was selected to serve as Court Counsel to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau, a small island nation.
Rick first came to Williamsport in 1989 when he was selected by the Honorable Malcolm Muir of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania to work as his law clerk. He liked the area so much that he invested in renovating many substandard buildings in the area. Once improved, these buildings are rented, often to students of the Pennsylvania College of Technology. Rick’s business has created work for many residents; has generated tax revenues for the area; and has enhanced the appearance of the neighborhoods. Rick also owns a diner in town.
Rick is one of the founders and current president of the Greater Williamsport Landlord Association (GWLA). He is a member of the College and Community Coalition organized by the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He is chairman of the Organization Committee of the Main Street project and is on the board of Our Towns 2010.
Rick is married to Sara M. Rider of Williamsport, the daughter of John and Betsy Rider. They live in Williamsport and are members of St. Boniface Church.
